Advocaat not happy with Sunderland Short-age of funds

Dick Advocaat admits he is frustrated that Sunderland chairman Ellis Short is not providing more transfer funds.

The Dutch tactician has already revealed that he believes his current Black Cats squad is not deep enough to stave off relegation this season, prompting him to cross his fingers that Short will make available some more money so the club can attract some quality players to the Stadium of Light.

Prior to Tuesday night's Capital One Cup clash with Exeter City, which the Wearsiders won 6-3 on the back of a Jermain Defoe hat-trick, Advocaat spoke of his frustration at the current financial situation at Sunderland.

"I am not happy at all," he said when asked about new signings.

"I wasn't intending to say this but I will say this because I don't care.

"If you have the right people in place, and I think they are now here, and you trust them, and you have some resources to do something, knowing what will come in the next three years (increased TV money), I would do it differently, let's say it that way.

"Lee Congerton (sporting director) is doing a great job, with little money.

"We really appreciate that but we need more."
