Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat has revealed how he convinced his wife to let him take charge of the duties at the Stadium of Light.
Advocaat looked certain to leave the club at the end of last season, only to change his mind upon continued persistence from the club.
The Dutchman said of his change of heart: "The club tried to convince me every day and my wife was listening. At a certain moment she said 'just do it if you still want to do it'.
"Not to become sentimental, but we had a great time in the last period of last season. We were all together and I was explaining to her the feeling that we had.
"I want to work. I still feel really good and I changed her mind."
