Yann M'Vila is likely to have a very important role for Sunderland this season according to Dick Advocaat.
The 25-year-old Frenchman has joined the Black Cats on a season-long from Russian club Rubin Kazan and Advocaat expects a key contribution from the defensive midfielder.
"He is a controlling player rather than box to box," said the Sunderland manager.
"He is more a passer of the ball, picks a great pass and a quick pass. (He) does well with that.
"He is a quick thinker. He will make a big difference to the team."
M'Vila is set to make his Premier League debut when the Black Cats host Norwich City at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
