Adu thrilled for Hoppenot after Open Cup winner for Philadelphia Union

Philadelphia Union snuck through to the fourth round of the US Open Cup with a dramatic 2-1 victory over DC United on Tuesday night.

French forward Antoine Hoppenot, who was selected in the Supplemental Draft earlier this year, provided the stoppage time winner for the Union at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds to send the club through to the next phase.

After the match, Union attacker Freddy Adu, who set up Hoppenot's winner, was delighted for his teammate.

"We're so happy for him," Adu said. "He comes in and works so hard every day. He practices so hard.

"I'm so happy he was able to get a goal like that because I've got to tell you, he practices like crazy. He's so fast and so quick. And he's kind of annoying and causes problems.

"I think he gets kicked more than anyone in practice. By all that, I mean he works so hard and comes in with the energy every single day.

"To see him get rewarded like this is a great feeling. This whole club is happy for him."
