Adriano has backtracked on comments he will leave AS Roma in June.
The striker told the Brazilian media on the weekend he intended to join Flamengo at the end of this season.
But he now says: "I have a contract until 2013 and I have promised that I will stay until the end.
"If I hadn't wanted to come back, I wouldn't have picked up the phone and I would have asked my agent to come here.
"I've had problems with the passport and my uncle felt ill.
"It wasn't a great New Years for me. Now I am here. I know that I have to apologise because I have arrived late, but I am happy at Roma and I have come back for that reason.
"I am used to the fact that things are often invented about my life," he concluded.
