Inter Milan has defeated AC Milan 2-1 in a classic Milan derby overnight thanks to a controversial goal from Brazilian striker Adriano. The result means Jose Mourinho's side is now eight points clear of second placed Juventus and 10 points clear of the rossoneri.

First half goals to Adriano and Stankovic were enough for the reigning champions, although Pato's goal late in the match lead to a frantic closing period which threatened an equaliser for AC Milan.

However much attention will be focused on Adriano's opening goal, with replays clearly showing the ball hitting his arm after rising to head the ball goalwards.
