Adriano excited over imminent Roma move

Adriano is excited about his imminent arrival at Roma.

The Flamengo striker is expected to complete his transfer by Wednesday this week.

"I want to make my mark in the history of this club. I can't wait to get started; I'm champing at the bit and feel great. Rome is a fantastic city," he told Il Romanista.

"You don't know what it feels like for a player when the anthem plays in the Stadio Olimpico before kick-off and the crowd starts singing along.

"I can assure you that it gives goosebumps even to the opposition. The Roma fans are very moving.

"I can't wait to play the derby with Lazio. I imagine it's like Flamengo-Fluminense in Brazil, but to really understand I'd have to play a part in it."

Adriano's first test in a Roma jersey will be the Italian Super Cup against Inter in August.

"I really want to do well straight away, but only for Roma and to prove that I am a true football player again.

"I have no particular 'revenge' to take on my ex-teammates or President Massimo Moratti, who has always treated me exceptionally well."
