Adriano's agent has held crunch talks in Italy with Inter Milan officials over the striker's future.
Gilmar Rinaldi revealed: "We have a problem because Adriano did not turn up to training and these things are always difficult to discuss.
"But this club is at the top level and there has always been mutual respect with Ghelfi and Branca, so it was a positive meeting.
"I cannot say anything yet, as I have to talk to Adriano first.
"He has said that he wants to wait and do his own thing for one or two months. Now I'll bring him the club's position on the matter and can't tell you any more than that.
"Now we need to do things with a cool head. Tonight I'll fly back to Brazil to speak with Adriano and in a week I should be in Italy again."
