Adidas captures New York City kit deal

Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion franchise New York City FC have announced a kit deal with Adidas as they build towards a 2015 debut, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. The German brand will produce playing strips, training wear and merchandise for the team, with the products set be revealed in the coming weeks.

The products, including replica jerseys and a range of supporter apparel, will be made available online and at Adidas' flagship New York City store in Soho.

"We are very pleased to welcome Adidas to our rapidly growing New York City FC family and to be associated with one of the world's leading and most recognisable brands," said Tim Pernetti, the club's chief business officer.

Jointly owned by Premier League champions Manchester City and the New York Yankees Major League Baseball (MLB) team, New York City FC are one of two clubs set to join MLS next year, alongside Orlando City SC.

Their kit deal with Adidas comes with the brand midway through an eight-year, US$200 million deal with MLS - an agreement which sees it supply kit and equipment to all 18 of the league's current teams.
