10 man Gold Coast United has been denied a chance to return to the top of the A-League after Adelaide United scored in injury time to share the points tonight. Despite being a man down, Gold Coast took the lead after Fitzsimmons scored in the 66th minute capitalising on good lead up play by Zenon Caravella.

The Adelaide crowd turned on coach Aurelio Vidmar in the last half hour, calling for his dismissal as Adelaide looked doomed to another home loss.

However Matthew Leckie saved one point - and possibly Vidmar's job - with a last gasp equaliser to deny Gold Coast a fairytale victory.
