Adelaide United are in the money after winning through to the Asian Champions League final this week. With a Club World Championship place now secured, Adelaide's bean counters can look forward to a massive cash injection.
At a minimum, United stands to earn $US1.9m; $US400,000 if beaten by Gamba in the final plus $US1m for qualifying for the WCC and $US500,000 if it finishes seventh in that tournament.
Victory in the ACL is worth $US600,000, while winning the final of the WCC is worth a staggering $US5m, second $US4m, third $US2.5m right down to $US500,000 for seventh. Manchester United appears to have its hands around the trophy, but that won't worry Adelaide, which would love nothing better than to play United at some stage of the tournament.
With the club now swimming in cash, Reds fans will demand the board go out and sign a big-name marquee player next season.
