Adelaide United using pre-season predictions to their favour – Pantelis

Adelaide United vice-captain Lucas Pantelis admits the club have used poor pre-season predictions from experts to their advantage this season.

Adelaide United vice-captain Lucas Pantelis admits the club have used poor pre-season predictions from experts to their advantage this season.

The Reds, who ended their 2009/10 campaign on the bottom of the table, are currently sitting pretty in second position and have recorded eight points more than what they finished on last term in eight less games.

Pantelis says that the determination to prove the doubters wrong has helped turn things around this season and put the team in a very good position from a finals point of view.

“I think most punters or experts tipped is not to do well this year, so we’re proving a lot of people wrong and that’s a good thing,” he told Australian Football Weekly.

“We’re using that to our advantage and hopefully we can continue to play the way we’re playing and be up there at the end of the year.”

Pantelis also highlighted the inclusion of Argentine playmaker Marcos Flores and Dutch striker Sergio van Dijk have also gone a long way to assisting with much-improved results.

“This year, we’re getting our chances, but we’re also scoring goals,” he added. “And obviously when you’ve got players like Marcos Flores who’s a creator and Serg who can score the goals, these two players have really helped us.”
