Adelaide United with some injury woes after Sydney win

Adelaide United swept to their sixth win in nine game against Sydney FC last night but not everything is running as smooth as they would like.

It took the Reds until injury time to defeat the bottom-placed Sky Blues 2-1 at the Sydney Football Stadium and along with that, , some key players sustained injuries during the encounter and will be assessed when the squad returns to Adelaide.

"(Sergio) van Dijk I don't think is a big problem, it was just a knock, and at half time we knew he could not play on anymore so we had to change that, but just before that something happens with (Marcos) Flores. I think his is a bigger problem that van Dijk, but we have to see how it goes tomorrow," United Head Coach Rini Coolen said after the match.

The Dutchman also admitted that his side was lucky to win the match after Sydney dominated long periods and also gave away an own goal in the 57th minute before Iain Ramsay's late winner.

"We were a little lucky today, we didn't play a real good game. To be honest I feel sorry for Sydney because they played better than us, and normally they should win the game but they didn't," Coolen added.

"At the end of the game you feel that someone is going to score a goal, they had the most chances but we had a few chances, and we were lucky we won the game.

"I feel great for the players because you don't play well, and that's what happened today. You have to work real hard and stay in the game and stay focused and do your job, and that's what they did. At the end I'm happy at the moment, but not with the way we played."
