Adelaide United secure vice-captain Pantelis on new deal

Adelaide United have re-signed vice-captain Lucas Pantelis for a further two years.

The 28-year old midfielder is one of few establishment players left with the Reds after beginning his career with the club in its first A-League season in 2005/06.

Pantelis was attracting plenty of interest from clubs in Asia and it seemed as if his Reds career would be over but he has remained loyal to the club.

The left-sided winger enjoyed a solid 2009/10 season when things didn’t go well for Adelaide and could have easily jumped ship but he has decided to put pen to a fresh contract which is great news for Reds players and supporters.

Helped by Pantelis’ good recent form, Adelaide find themselves on top of the Group H table of the Asian Champions League with two wins from two group stage outings.

Adelaide missed a real chance to actually let their actions speak louder than words and make some inroads into changing the culture of the club. He's been bloody average this season and a couple of good late season games seems to have saved him.
