Adelaide United's van Dijk pondering loan deal

Adelaide United striker and 2010/11 A-League Golden Boot winner Sergio van Dijk is keen to go on loan during the off-season rather than be constricted to training.

The 28-year old Dutchman, who has scored 16 goals so far this term, has opened the door for a short-term spell away from Adelaide during their pre-season but at this stage is unsure if anything will occur.

"I don't know if I'm for sale; they'll have to talk to the club first," van Dijk told the Adelaide Advertiser.

"Having that long a pre-season, yeah, I'd rather play some games than train and play some friendlies.

"If there's a chance I will always consider it. In football you never know."

Reds boss Rini Cooeln said there was every possibility something could be sorted but said it was something to be considered after the finals campaign.

"Maybe it's sometimes good to let them play somewhere else," Coolen said. "I have to look at that and every individual.

"If there are months between competitions it's something to have a look at; that's what we'll do, have a look at it."
