Scott Jamieson has failed to earn a contract at FC Groningen.
The Australian international was in Holland last week on trial but the technical staff at Groningen decided not to offer him a contract.
The 20-year old will now return to Adelaide United.
Groningen reports on its official website that 'the technical staff concluded that Jamieson is a player with qualities, good basis and a good mentality'.
'The trainers at this time, however, are looking for a player for multiple positions in the team'.
It was not the first time that Jamieson tried his luck in Europe.
The left-back was under contract with Bolton Wanderers from 2006 to 2008.
He has been part of Australian youth teams and recently made his debut in the Socceroos team under Pim Verbeek.
