Adelaide United defender Iain Fyfe feels that tonight’s fixture is the last chance for his former club Sydney FC to save their season.

The Reds host the Sky Blues at Adelaide Oval in their Week 20 midweek match and Fyfe has added some fuel to the fire by taunting his old teammates despite his own side losing their past three.

“You have to say this is Sydney's last chance - they're nine points off the finals and the games are slipping away," Fyfe told the Daily Telegraph.

"The longer it goes without a win, the harder it is to get any momentum going, and they need to start winning soon for sure.

"Having said that we're been pretty poor that last two games and we're well aware we need to lift. Against Melbourne Heart we were cruising and maybe mentally we thought the points were safe, those late goals [in the last four minutes] knocked the stuffing out of us. Then we gave away a couple of soft goals against the Mariners, missed a few chances and suddenly it's two in a row.

"Luckily we get a chance to regroup quickly and get back on the park straight away against Sydney."
