Adelaide United's Flores putting contract talks on hold

Adelaide United star Marcos Flores is delaying any contract negotiations with the club. The reigning A-League Player of the Year, who is contracted until the end of 2011/12 season, has been offered a three-year deal by the Reds but says he will not decide on his future just yet, although he does admit he loves the city.

"I want to stay in Adelaide, I wish to stay in Adelaide," Flores said.

"I never compare Adelaide with other teams in other countries…I compare (Adelaide United) with Australia, and if Adelaide is proud for that, I think they should be relaxed.

"I want to be focused in my team, I have one more year on my contract here," he added.

"This is the last time I want to talk about my contract, I have one more year left so I don't know why everyone is desperate for me to decide."

And the Argentine playmaker said that the United squad were currently focused on putting in a solid pre-season so they can work towards the A-League title.

"We're training really sharp and getting better because every player wants to stay focused for next season," Flores said.

"We want to win, that's it. I've said many times before we have two options - win or win, and next season we want to play the best football in this league."
