Adelaide United FC will be hoping recent trends continue, as The Reds head west to take on Perth Glory tomorrow night (Friday 9 October 2009) at ME Bank Stadium in Round 10 of the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 Season (Kick-Off 9.30pm ACDT).

In a match that will see United Captain Travis Dodd become just the second player to make 100 Hyundai A-League appearances, The Reds have won the last four encounters against Perth, dating back to the opening round of last season.

The Reds also have a favourable record in the west, having won three and been defeated just once in the six previous meetings between the sides at ME Bank Stadium.

However, the Glory are undefeated in their past four games and Coach Aurelio Vidmar knows taking three points will not be an easy assignment, particularly with The Reds coming off of a four day break from their match against the Newcastle Jets last Monday.

"They're always tough games and they've always been pretty close games," Vidmar said.

"It's always tough going there, there are no easy road trips, but Perth is certainly one that is difficult and I feel that they've got a very good side, certainly top three material and they're not far away."

Vidmar has been forced to make one change to the side that drew with Newcastle, with Vice-Captain Lucas Pantelis ruled out with knee soreness. Midfielder Fabian Barbiero is likely to replace Pantelis in the team, Vidmar confident Barbiero is ready to return after two games with the Youth Team.

"He (Barbiero) is going to give us a fair bit of energy…he knows the role and certainly he's someone that gives us that running power through the midfield," Vidmar said.

While United's players will be fuelled on by Dodd's milestone, the Glory will be without their captain Jacob Burns, who will miss the game through suspension after accumulating five yellow cards.

Dodd has a habit of scoring against Perth, the midfielder with three goals in his past five encounters against the Glory, which included the winner when the teams met at Hindmarsh Stadium back in Round 1.

The United skipper says The Reds will head to Perth in an attacking frame of mind with the intent on scoring goals.

"To be the first player for Adelaide United to reach the (100 Hyundai A-League games) )milestone, I feel pretty good about it…but I guess at the end of the day it's another game for me and we've got to concentrate on going over to Perth and getting the three points," Dodd said.

"We won't be going over to play for a draw. We'll be going over for three points, we generally play pretty well against Perth and we've had some decent results against them, so we need to go over with a positive mindset that we can score goals and beat them."

A win on Friday night would send The Reds above the Glory on the table and with United hosting current top of the table Sydney FC in a blockbuster at Hindmarsh Stadium the following Friday, a positive result in the west would be invaluable.
