Adelaide United will today penalise defender Robert Cornthwaite after he was charged with assault on the weekend.
The Reds hierarchy will impose sanctions for the 23-year old after allegedly being involved in an altercation with a bouncer at an Adelaide nightclub but coach Aurelio Vidmar admits he will try not to penalise the team.
"He's a professional footballer, he needs to train," Vidmar said.
"Certainly, he's not going to stay away from the group and not train. He needs to train because that's his job, OK?"
Football Federation Australia will step in if they believe the sanctions imposed by the club are not harsh enough or unsatisfactory.
