Adelaide United launch junior development academy

A-League club Adelaide United have launched their junior development academy.

In conjunction with IGA Supermarkets, the Reds today announced the IGA & Adelaide United Junior Development Academy which will deliver professional skill based programs orientated around game drills and skill development.

The first Hyundai A-League academy of its kind in Australia will feature two specific identification programs, a scholarship based Elite Program and a user pays Community Program.

The 2010 Elite Program will comprise of boys born in 1997 and 1998, with the aim to identify, develop and foster talented junior South Australian footballers through the existing pathway by monitoring and managing their improvement, in the chance of one day becoming Adelaide United and even possibly Qantas Socceroos players of the future.

In addition to the Elite Program, the Community Program targets boys and girls aged between 8-14 years, with the aim to help develop their skills and growth in a program that represents the culture of the Adelaide United Football Club.

The program will be conducted in different regions around the Adelaide metropolitan area, and provides excellent value with all participants receiving specialist coaching from current and past Adelaide United players as well as receiving a Reds Academy playing strip, club merchandise and a membership for the 2010/11 Season.
