Adelaide United keeping fingers crossed for ex-Nuremberg attacker Vidosic

Adelaide United are hopeful that star recruit Dario Vidosic will be available for Friday night's clash with rivals Melbourne Victory.

The 24-year old former FC Nuremberg attacking midfielder pulled out of the weekend's 1-0 loss to Perth Glory because of knee and calf problems as well as illness but Reds boss Rini Coolen is keeping his fingers crossed about his fitness for the Week 2 A-League fixture at Hindmarsh Stadium.

"He's still not fit for a full game but maybe he can come off the bench or maybe he can start part of the game,'' Coolen said.

"When he came to us, the first weeks, he had some problems with his knee, so he took two weeks off to recover from that.

"Then he had some little problem with his calf, because of the hard pitches.

"So he never got a lot of sessions in a row, and finally he was fit and then he got sick.

"So a little bit of unlucky moments. But we have to work on his fitness. Hopefully he will be back in the squad next week.

"We are looking forward to having him in the squad."
