Adelaide United keeper Galekovic has Brazil World Cup dream

Adelaide United goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic is eyeing the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after experiencing first-hand the wonder of the world's biggest sporting event.

The 29-year old was elevated to the final 23 of the Australian national team when Brad Jones had to attend family matters and after spending the past five weeks in the World Cup environment, is desperate to taste it again.

"I was there as a fourth choice, and I was expecting I would be a chance (to get into the squad) if there was an injury, but for it to happen like it did, it was shocking news, all of the boys were devastated (for Brad) and it was definitely bitter sweet," Galekovic said.

"It was unbelievable and just a great experience to train with the boys, be with the boys and go through a World Cup.

"It was disappointing that we didn't make the next stage but in saying that, the one game that killed us was Germany and the other two games I think the boys played with their hearts and left everything out on the field.

"We were unlucky not to get a win against Ghana, even though we played with ten men, so we finished on a high but in the end we didn't make it past the Group Stage."

And for Brazil 2014 plans, Galekovic had a very positive outlook.

"That's my next aim," Galekovic added.

"In four years hopefully I can do it again in Brazil and who knows if Schwarzer is going to be around or not, the number one spot might be up for grabs."
