Adelaide United happy to come away with a point

Adelaide United head coach Joe Mullen said the club was happy to come away from Korea with a point after their clash with Pohang Steelers.

The Reds remained on top of Group H after the scoreless draw but it could have been much different as the Koreans peppered the goals throughout the 90 minutes only to be thwarted by a tight Adelaide defence as well as a solid performance from goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic.

Mullen was quite content with the way his side defended and admitted a point was enough for his team to come back to Australia in a positive frame of mind.

"Pohang's first half was incredibly good but we defended quite well," he said.

"We tried to do something in the second half and it came out a lot better. We had only few chances so it is good to come away with a point."

The draw meant that Pohang had still not been able to defeat Adelaide in four meetings in Asian competition and Mullen was hoping to keep that going if they were to meet again this term.

"All I know is Pohang are a very good team," he added.

"Results are history and I look forward to our next match with Pohang in the future."
