Adelaide striker Leckie misses out on Celtic trial

Matthew Leckie has damaged his cruciate ligament, meaning any possible trial at Celtic would be delayed. The Adelaide United striker is being chased by a host of clubs with German side Borussia Monchengladbach seemingly leading the chase for his signature.

The Hoops were understood to be tracking the 19-year-old closely and were looking to bring him to Scotland for a possible training spell.

But the player has damaged his ligament which, whilst not needing surgery, will require him to be sidelined until 2011.

"Obviously I'm a bit frustrated and devastated that I won't be able to play for a while now, but I guess injuries happen in football," Leckie said.
