Adelaide United starlet Mathew Leckie was happy to be nominated Football Federation Australia's Young Player of the Month for January but says he is not getting carried away with the accolade.

The 19-year old had a great month in January, which took in Rounds 22-26 of A-League action, and although he is honoured to now be a contender for the 2009/10 NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award, he is not about to rest knowing he has now been noticed.

"It's an honour to be nominated for this award, it's a great award," Leckie said.

"I'd like to thank NAB, obviously it is just something that comes along the way when you're playing and I'll just keep playing as best as I can.

"I never really thought anything about it (the award). Obviously I'm happy to get nominated but I'll just move on and keep playing football."

Leckie joins five other nominees for the award, who include Sydney FC's Kofi Danning, Melbourne Victory's Leigh Broxham, Brisbane Roar's Tommy Oar, North Queensland Fury's Rostyn Griffiths and the Newcastle Jets' Ben Kantarovski.
