Adelaide's Leckie awaiting scans on hamstring injury

Talented young Adelaide United FC midfielder Mathew Leckie's exciting burst onto the Hyundai A-League scene has suffered a minor setback after he pulled up with hamstring soreness following the draw with the Central Coast Mariners last Saturday night.

The 18 year old felt tightness in his hamstring during the match at Canberra Stadium, the injury enough to see him return with United's squad to Adelaide rather than head to Sydney, where he was expected to join Reds goalkeeper Mark Birighitti and the rest of the Qantas Young Socceroos (Australia U-20s) squad ahead of the AFC U-19 Championship 2010 Qualifiers in Indonesia.

An MRI scan later this afternoon will reveal the extent of Leckie's injury, with the results likely to only be known tomorrow morning.

Leckie has enjoyed a bright start to his professional career since signing with United in September, the attacking midfielder having played in The Reds' last seven games, in which he has started in the past three.
