Adelaide's Dodd expecting a desperate Brisbane Roar

Adelaide United captain Travis Dodd is expecting a desperate Brisbane Roar outfit at Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday night.

The Reds host the Roar in round 14 of A-League action in need of a win but knowing that their opponents are in even more desperate need of some points after a barren spell.

"They (Brisbane Roar) have come off four losses and a draw so they're going to be desperate coming to Hindmarsh, and we really need to start picking up points," Dodd said.

"I think it's just a matter of the group, we all have to drive each other throughout training this week and that's something I'll be focusing on with (vice-captain) Lucas (Pantelis) and the other senior boys, to make sure that everyone's heads are right throughout the week and for the game."

Adelaide coach Aurelio Vidmar admitted he wasn't thinking about the opposition, preferring to focus on his own group of players and getting his process right.

"It doesn't matter what formation you play or what team is out there, whoever goes out on the park needs to know they've got a job to do, it's as simple as that," Vidmar said.

"It's a game of football, everyone has got responsibilities in those roles and they need to fulfil them."

The fixture, which will kick off Round 14 before the Hyundai A-League has a weekend off for a FIFA Match Day Break, looms as another danger game for The Reds at home in a match that they need to take maximum points from.
