Adelaide rediscover winning feeling with thriller over Brisbane

Fabian Barbiero has scored the winning goal as Adelaide kept their season alive with a thrilling 1-0 win away to Brisbane Roar. Brisbane Roar 0 Adelaide United 1

Scorer: F.Barbiero (AU) 75th At Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane

The result sees bottom placed Adelaide only four points adrift of a spot in the top six, reflecting the incredibly close A-League season.

More importantly, it snapped a six match streak without a win for last season's grand finalists.

Both sides were chasing the victory and whilst Brisbane had several good scoring opportunities, it was Barbiero, who scored Adelaide's winner in last year's Preliminary Final, who found the back of the net.

A quick counter-attack saw Matthew Leckie break down the right hand side of the pitch, control and then provide a perfect pass for Barbiero to meet with a well-placed header.

Brisbane introduced Massimo Murdocca for his first match of the season and he almost provided the game with a top class equaliser, striking a goal bound curling shot in injury time only for Adelaide's Eugene Galekovic to produce an outstanding save to ensure the three points went back to Adelaide.
