Adelaide United signing Sergio van Dijk is excited about embarking on a fresh challenge with a new club. The Dutch striker, who has one game left with current club Brisbane Roar, has signed a six-month deal with the Reds which will enable him to be a part of their Asian Champions League squad.
He admitted to being thrilled to get this opportunity and is looking for success with his new club, even if it's only short-term.
"Of course I'm looking forward to playing in the highest club tournament in Asia and I'm really looking forward to coming to join the guys in Adelaide," van Dijk said.
"I'm a striker so I hope I can bring them (Adelaide United) goals and help the team accomplish some good things in the Champions League and that we can go as far as we can.
"Especially last year (2008) I was very impressed how Adelaide did in the ACL, and now I can play for the team and I hope we can achieve the same again this year."
van Dijk plays his 50th and final Roar match tomorrow against the Perth Glory at ME Bank Stadium - kick-off is at 4:00pm local (7:00pm AEDT).
