Adelaide coach Vidmar praises players on mentally challenging season

Adelaide United coach Aurelio Vidmar has praised his players after performing well in a very mentally challenging season. The Reds had an enormously cluttered fixture this season with their Asian Champions League campaign and despite losing both the ACL final and the A-League final, Vidmar says he is proud of his charges.

"Certainly the achievements of the club up to date have been fantastic," he said.

"That's our second grand final in three years, albeit two losing ones, we made the final in the Asian Champions League, we've beaten some super teams in the ACL through the course of the year.

"It's been a tough, tough season but the mentality of the group is what's surprised me the most.

"When the chips are down they always seem to find something extra and once again, I think that was our 43rd game of the season.

"For Australian standards that is almost double the amount of games and for them to keep bouncing back is a true testament to their character."
