"I would like to get the Golden Boot - but I want to win the title as well," said the Togo star. "If I win the Golden Boot I have not really won anything. It is all about winning the title. That is the most important thing.
"He has a lot of qualities and I show him a lot of respect for what he has done.
"Saturday is a big game. Even if United had beaten City 5-0, they would want to beat us as they want to win the FA Cup - like us.
"After losing, they will want to show their fans they can beat us. But we want to show our fans we can keep going."
As for the title, despite holding a massive five-point advantage over United, Adebayor has a warning for his team-mates. He said: "It is very good for us at the moment but the title is not finished as teams can always come from behind.
"We just want to keep our focus. We cannot talk about the title yet.
"The belief is there, of course. As long as we keep on winning games and keep enjoying ourselves we have a chance. We are like a family as the team is very young.
"The most important thing is to keep our heads, keep our feet on the ground and, come the end of the season, we hope to win the title.
"It is not going to be easy, it is going to be very tough.
"We have a lot of big games coming. We must go to Chelsea and we must go to Manchester - so it is going to be exciting."
