Lyon pulled out of a deal for the former Crystal Palace striker citing his African Cup of Nations commitments.
"It makes no sense that justification, because they contacted me after Togo had qualified and they knew that I would play with my team in the African Nations Cup," Adebayor told L'Equipe.
"They started to look for excuses after a couple of days. they talked to the coach Le Roy on my form and have not said anything about the African Cup.
"On Tuesday we had a preliminary agreement pending a medical. Saturday morning I learned from Le Roy that the operation has not gone through and then I read it in the press."
