Adams: Wenger wrong on over 30’s at Arsenal
Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Mon, 01/11/2010 - 04:07
Tony Adams says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's attitude towards players over-30 is all wrong.
Adams feels the players such as Sol Campbell or Patrick Vieira should have stayed at the club in some capacity. Instead, only Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and Philippe Senderos are survivors from when the club last won a trophy, back in 2005.
He said: "The continuity wasn't there. We all left together. If there was one or two, maybe Ashley Cole or Sol, to educate the current group with what the past did.
"Manchester United have done that. From the Beckham era, one at a time they have left and they still have Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs. We all went together.
"The new squad is very talented but sometimes I think they lack a bit of direction."

Wenger knows best. Fielding an orchestra of spellbinding, fit-as-fiddle maestroes, whose every move is sheer poetry in motion. I, however, agree with veteran Adams. Sometimes the best of geniuses still need the seasoned hands and limbs of a seasoned orchestra to help inpire them to come out with masterpices and enact command performances, time after time. At the moment Arsenal aren't doing too badly(they are third on the log), but they still need the strength of a solid spine to thrive better. Who knows the second coming of Sol Campbell, who alongside of Patrick Viera who used to form the spine of the rocksteady middle of the Invincibles might be the appropriate response of Wizard Arsene Wenger to the charges of bypassing talents in their 30s for his unbelievably talented side. Pity, we'll be missing Thiery Henry, now of equally entetaining Barcelona, in this squad though he has not been the genius that he used to be when he called the shots in the incomparable Arsenal of that golden age. The future for Arsenal is brighter than anyone can ever imagine. Their sexy football simply turns the world on. Unlike the former Bam,Bam, Thank you mam type of football played to boring effect by the old Chelsea, that people flatter by calling the True Blue. Though top of the chart, presently I still have my reservation about their style of play since they hired that incurable windbag, called Jode Mourhinho, as the coach. Football should be enjoyed, not endured! ARSENAL are simply a masterclass act. Top of the world apart from the rest. They've got the world at their feet.

What about Gael Clichy? He has a league winner's medal from the Invincibles season.
