Portsmouth assistant boss Tony Adams will be influential in any bid for Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu.
Mutu was sacked by Chelsea in 2004 after failing a drug test and was serving a seven-month worldwide ban when he was snapped up by Juventus.
During his ban, Mutu attended the Sporting Chance clinic, which was co-founded by current Pompey No2 Adams.
Although Redknapp has a reputation for restoring the reputation of footballing bad boys, Adams can vouch that Mutu is already a reformed character - and has married for a second time since his troubled spell at Stamford Bridge.
