Tony Adams believes Portsmouth can benefit from Lassana Diarra's big-money move to Real Madrid.
Adams said: "You have to understand that it's Real Madrid. I played for a big club at Arsenal and if Real Madrid had come in for me, I would have stayed at Arsenal.
"But you've also got to be realistic. He's had a great platform in Portsmouth.
"I think it's a message to people who can't get in the Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United team - come and play for Portsmouth.
"They will be in a big stage and one day they might get to play for Real Madrid."
