Portsmouth boss Tony Adams admits he railed against his players after their defeat to Bolton.
He said: "We were not up for the fight. We did not turn up. It was horrendous, awful.
"I had a bit of a go at them and asked which part of my pre-match team talk they did not understand.
"When you come to a place like Bolton you have to defend set plays and win the battle. But we lost too many one on ones.
"However the reaction was positive. I think having a screaming manager on the touchline helped."
