Accrington Stanley miss out on North Queensland Fury's Hughes

English League Two club Accrington Stanley have missed out on the services of North Queensland Fury defender Mark Hughes.

The Reds were hoping to bring in the 24-year old former Everton man as replacement for the injured Kevin Long who is on loan from Burnley.

But the Fury want to keep Hughes for the remainder of the A-League season before he more than likely returns home to England. However, after missing the transfer deadline, Hughes will not be able to join a new club until the English summer transfer window kicks off in June.
