AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta insists the game should not be blamed for the latest violent tragedy involving Italian football.

Gabriele Sandri, a DJ and Biancocelesti fan, was accidentally shot by a wayward police bullet in a motorway service station near Arezzo yesterday, which led to Milan's clash with Atalanta being called off after home ultras began destroying parts of the stadium.

Nesta said: "The problem is not inside the stadium. The problem is that what's happening in stadiums is the mirror of what is happening outside, in society."
