Real Madrid midfielder Kaka will have to take a 50 per cent cut on his wages to return to AC Milan.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani confirmed yesterday he planned to discuss a deal with Kaka while in New York ahead of their friendly against Real Madrid on August 8.
Galliani wants Kaka on a 12-month free loan and for the Brazilian to accept a €5 million salary - he receives €10 million-a-year at Real.
Despite the dramatic demands, those close to the negotiating table believe the will of all three parties is to see Kaka in a Milan shirt before the summer market shuts.
