AC Milan veteran Oddo: Player strike going ahead

AC Milan defender Massimo Oddo says the players' strike remains on.

Presidents said they were hopeful the strike, called for September 25-26 in protest at changes to the collective bargaining agreement for contracts, could be called off.

"In Italy it is very easy to talk about money and millionaires, but that is not the message we want to give. The wrong message has come through," spokesman Oddo told Sky Sport Italia.

We are intransigent above all on two points: clubs wanting to force transfers in the final year of a contract and the discretion of clubs to freeze players out of the squad.

"The President of the Players' Association did not ask us to stop the strike. We are waiting to reach a satisfying agreement for both sides and it is not just our battle.

"We asked for a deal and this is what we want. If we don't find one, then the decision to go on strike remains unchanged."
