AC Milan veteran striker Pippo Inzaghi is a shock target for Manchester City.

The Daily Mail says City boss Roberto Mancini is ready to bring in a major new signing from Italy if City allow Robinho to go.

With Benjani being strongly linked with a move to West Ham, Roque Santa Cruz sidelined for a month with a calf injury suffered at Everton two Saturdays ago and doubts over Emmanuel Adebayor's mental state after he returned from Africa following the Togo terrorist attack, Mancini will not allow Robinho to leave without first lining up a replacement.

Inzaghi would be a short-term option until the summer, when he is expected to join Parma from Milan, but a loan deal for the 36-year-old Italy international could become complicated if Milan also allow Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to leave the San Siro.
