AC Milan to pursue Tottenham flop Lamela

AC Milan will go after Erik Lamela if they happen to miss out on Axel Witsel according to reports.

Sportmediaset suggests that the Rossoneri will launch a bid for the Tottenham winger if their pursuit of Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder Witsel fails.

Belgium international Witsel is a strong target for new Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic but there is also interest from Premier League clubs including champions Chelsea.

As a contingency, Spurs flop Lamela has been linked with a potential move to the San Siro despite scoring just two goals in 33 Premier League appearances under Mauricio Pochettino last term.

Further report suggest that Juventus are also keen on Lamela but a source told Corriere dello Sport that no Serie A club would want to pay the money required to land the player from White Hart Lane.

"He is a player who is too expensive for the Italian market, both for the transfer and for the wages," said the source.

The Argentina international, 23, joined Tottenham from AS Roma in a £30million deal in the summer of 2013 and has scored six goals in 63 outings for the North London club.
