AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has publicly thanked Cagliari for releasing Massimiliano Allegri from his contract.

Cagliari announced yesterday they were freeing up Allegri so he could take charge of Milan.

"I asked my Cagliari counterpart for a favour and we are grateful to Cellino for this decision," said Galliani.
