AC Milan striker Stephan El Shaarawy excited to join Roma

AC Milan striker Stephan El Shaarawy has completed his loan move to Roma.

El Shaarawy has joined on loan from Milan at a cost of €1.4m with option to buy at the end of the season for another €13m.

“I'm very determined and excited, Roma is a fresh start for me," he told the official club website. “I've come here with a lot of humility to try and turn my career around.

“It's been a very positive first day. Everyone at the club has given me a nice, warm welcome and I met my new team-mates. I'm delighted.

“I had a chance to speak to sporting director Walter Sabatini and I thanked him for the faith he's shown in me and the opportunity he's afforded me along with the Coach, Luciano Spalletti.

“I spoke to Sabatini face to face and chatted to Spalletti on the phone and I feel they're really behind me. I'm pleased and I hope to repay the faith they've shown in me through my performances on the pitch, so we can achieve great things.

“Spalletti asked me how I was and if I was happy and keen to join Roma. I made him realise just how determined I am and how much I want to come and play here.

“I've had some issues over the last few months but I'm here to show what I can do - to myself, the Coach and Italian football as a whole.

“I talked to Alessandro Florenzi, who I know from the national team. I asked him a little bit about the set-up and he told me I'd definitely like it here."
