AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone thrilled with Italy debut

AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone was thrilled to make his Italy debut in defeat to Argentina last night.

Cutrone was a second-half substitute in the 2-0 reverse.

“I think we had many scoring opportunities this evening, so in that sense I thought we had a good game," the 20-year-old Milan striker told Rai Sport.

“Unfortunately, we conceded these two counter-attacks and Argentina did well to convert them."

Cutrone came off the bench in the final stages for his senior Italy debut.

“(Coach Gigi) Di Biagio said he would give space to young players, I thank him for this opportunity and will work hard to earn my place in the squad.

“When I step on the field, I try to give my best for the team, as that is the first job of a striker. After that, if a goal arrives, that's even better.

“I can play both as a centre-forward and with another striker. We played 4-3-3 tonight and I enjoyed it.

“I was originally called up to the Under-21 side, but when they told me in the locker room that I was in the senior squad, I couldn't believe it!"
