AC Milan star Ronaldinho denies derby partying

AC Milan star Ronaldinho denies he was partying for days leading up to their derby defeat to Inter.

Corriere della Sera reported this week that Milan had fined the former World Player of the Year, a fact Adriano Galliani appeared to confirm when he spoke about dealing with 'in-house matters'.

Ronaldinho has been spotted partying before and after Milan's matches on four occasions this season, even prompting French newspaper L'Equipe to consider him retired as a professional football player.

The former Barcelona star maintained a dignified silence yesterday, but released a statement on his official website this afternoon.

"I was a guest of a Milan hotel, but it's not true that I organised the party and even less truthful are the details reported," Ronaldinho wrote.

"I have worked a lot in recent months to reach my personal objectives and those of Milan. It seems unjust that very old images come to be used and the fact that I have admitted publicly that I like music to explain a negative result and invent a story about me.

"I am dedicating myself with the utmost commitment to Milan's project and I am working a lot to give the best of myself, even if the results aren't always positive."
