Gennaro Gattuso's knee injury has seen AC Milan begin the search for an immediate replacement, with Fiorentina's Marco Donadel a target.

Donadel is a former AC Milan youth player, who spent several seasons out on loan before moving to Fiorentina on a permanent basis in 2005.

The 25-year-old captained the Italian Under 21 side to victory at the 2004 European Championships.

This season he has faced stiff competition for a place in the starting eleven at Fiorentina but he remains highly regarded at Milan.
