Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva believes AC Milan's Nigel de Jong would be a great addition to the Reds squad.

The Dutch international has been linked with a possible loan move to Anfield as Brendan Rodgers chases a top-four spot and Lucas, currently sidelined with a knee injury, feels it would be a good piece of business by the Merseysiders.

"He is a good player and produced many good performances at Manchester City," he told ESPN Brazil.

"If he comes it will be good for the squad because it's important to have a strong squad.

"I believe that if anyone comes who plays in my position it will not be because of my injury but rather to strengthen the squad."
