AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has confirmed he made an attempt for Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri last summer.
Sarri was a free agent last summer after leaving Empoli, but the Rossoneri went with Sinisa Mihajlovic instead.
“I have to compliment Napoli, they played very well," Berlusconi said in an interview with Julie News.
“Congratulations to the great champion [Gonzalo] Higuain who scored 36 goals. I was a bit disappointed though, because he beat [Gunnar] Nordahl's record from when he was playing for Milan.
“I also have to compliment Sarri, it's true that last year he was one of the Coaches we looked at for Milan."
